Got a cot? Got houseguests? Get a cot! We did a test on a traditional Army cot vs. this cot, there was no comparison, it folds into nothingness and is light as a feather. While the Army cot made lots of noise while using it, ours was silent as a breeze. The Army cot was impossible to fold while ours folded neatly into it’s own bag with an attached shoulder strap and was easier to assemble too. Pete Smith began his operation with a buddy in the 70’s. The original model was based on a cot with a tent attached to it. Pete quickly suggested they eliminate the tent and they began production, both of the entrepreneurs having day jobs. With the parts coming from up and down the east coast with the exception of their hinge, this really is an All-American product. Pete talked to me about how at one point they were selling 3,000 cots a year, sales took a hit with Bauer going downhill and LL Bean getting most of their goods from overseas, but now, back like a phoenix and HALF as complicated, heavy and big as all the other cots out there, his cot is rising again. For all of us people with houseguests, and an aversion to air mattresses. Who needs “Whoosh”™ technology anyway?
