1 Liter Porvoo Measure
$65.00
Tin
4" dia x 6"
Lahti
This metal cup, a Porvoo Measure, is used in marketplaces throughout Finland for measuring produce. Rather than being sold by weight, the produce is sold by the liter or half-liter. The cup is handmade and certified with a government seal. The name Porvoo Measure dates back to when Sweden ruled Finland. The tax bailiff would use a cup to collect taxes in the form of grain, game, fish, etc. He used a larger cup when collecting the tax and a smaller one when delivering the tax to the King; the difference between the two was what he kept for himself. Apparently with the coming of more European Union regulations the Porvoo Measure will be replaced with kilo scales. We thought it was very interesting that the cup was still in use.
Sorry,
sold out.
But there is lots of other nice stuff!
