2013 Nails, thread, template and instructions for assembly 31" x 31" / 78.7 cm x 78.7 cm edition of 50, #'s 27 and 29
The American artist Carol Bove has donated two editions of Red Mandala in support of KIOSK and our current project space at Corbusier's Cite Radieuse in Marseille, France. The piece involves self-assembly, you are a participant. Instruction is easy but it takes time, Red Mandala is, after all, a form of meditation.
Carol's work has been a major inspiration over the decades and living with Red Mandala in our space is an etherial experience, the light changing, raking across it, allowing it to move, to disperse, to change throughout the day from its radiant, central point.
The purpose of a mandala is to transform and to assist. The work and the gift speaks magnitudes to Carol's generosity and kindness. A significant artist, with four of her sculptures currently on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and two significant shows at the gallery David Zwirner in New York opening April 29th, her gift supports not only KIOSK but all the work we do, which in turn, we hope, supports creators of all kinds.
Each edition comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. We thank you for your consideration and your support when you purchase this piece. Your name will be inscribed on our wall in recognition if you so choose. We appreciate all forms of support, this purchase, or anything large or small! Thank you.
The donation directly funds a new project we are working on called #302. A 3 month show where creators are invited to present their work at the Cite Radieuse in Marseille for 3 days, during April - June 2021.
