The Frog and The Commissary were both established in Philadelphia in the 70s by Steve Poses who was inspired by the great journalist Jane Jacobs and her opinion that restaurants are great urban transformers. The Frog Commissary is a catering company, the sum of the two. With more than 100,000 copies in circulation, the cookbook contains their famous carrot cake recipe with pecan cream filling, among other, often vegetarian, delights. It's pure 80s cooking, with many examples of American fusion cuisine. The Frog Commissary is still in action, currently based at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia. The book is in the gently used, cookbook condition.
