On the Corniche in Marseille, passing Malmousque, there is still a Casino. Casino otherwise went bust - too bad since I was told it's the first french epicerie chain. I used to put my nose up on Casino, but now I'm nostalgic. There will be a time when you'll miss a Duane Reade on every corner, I promise. Many times have I snuck in to this Casino to just buy a tote, and for a long time I have been wanted to share it with you, and finally I dared asking if I could buy their current stock of bags. There was a gorgeous old lady sitting on a chair next to the cashier chatting with everyone working. They were intrigued by my purchase, a glass of wine appeared, and all of a sudden I had an impromptu apéro while trying to explain KIOSK to her and her friends - she'd been living in NY a couple of years before we got started, so she completely understood what we were doing. Such a pleasant moment that I won't forget for weeks and weeks. Stripes will never go wrong.
