Lignes Bleues Verticales // Vertical Blue Lines by Evert Lindfors
1966 8.5 x 11.5" Wood, oil paint and assorted natural materials
In Provence it is often you see a wall of trees planted in a line as a barrier to the Mistral wind that blows like nothing I have ever experienced. It can howl for days, ripping apart trees, their leaves, pulling fruit off of branches and blowing soil. It comes from the north. Then there is another wind which comes from the south that brings Saharan dust with it, coating everything with a mild orange hue. In this work I see a row of those trees planted, a black line covering their roots and an exposed field behind.
