Keetja founded KIOSK with us; it's thanks to her we have the name. She's one of those people, silence and wisdom, speaking when you think she is not listening and then saying exactly the right thing. Impossible. We met in July, her son Beo was born in August and we opened KIOSK in November. She's travelled and has developed laser accurate insight in the process. She knows what your thinking and I can always count on her for real, considered opinion. We laugh. It's hard to say if candles found Keetja or if she found candles, life takes such turns in her world. It's always a question of what came first, what came second, life just slides into place. As for the candles I think it's a little bit of both. The story goes she was wanting to try her hand at craft, came across a tutorial of Martha Stewart making candles using a gourd, and looking at all the broken and discarded toys around the house, grabbed the closest thing of the same form, Garamon, a kaiju from Japanese films, and proceeded to melt and pour. Ten years on, she continues. Even with such time passing one thing continues to confuse her, people don't burn her candles. She figures it's because they somehow relate to them. But she is clear, burn the thing, set an intention, see it transform, let it go and buy another. Spoken like a rambler.
