Currently, you can go to Dover Street Market and buy this same whistle on a Lemaire leather strap for ten times the price as buying it here and putting it on a shoelace. I promise the sound is the same: a clear, sharp ring particular to the UK; most commonly seen and heard in movies from the 70s during a bobby chase on foot. If you want to make some noise, and we all do at some time or another, this is an effective option.  Acme, founded in the 1870s, operates out of Birmingham. The company was in the Hudson family for 100 years after which it was purchased by the son of a long time general manager. Acme's whistles were on the Titanic. Stop, think about that. Today they produce about 5 million whistles annually and continue to develop new styles regularly. This elongated model does it for me.
