Edlef Romeny Prints

Edlef Wybo Arthur Rudolf ter Haar Romeny was born on Valentines day 1926 in the Netherlands, threw his books on the blackboard when 14 and left for art school, had his house bombed during WW2, was going to be sent to invade Japan as a US Marine but the horror of the nuclear bombs saved him, got sent to Indonesia as a war artist for another atrocious war, met my mother hitchhiking in Germany during the rebuild of their bombed cities, moved to Sweden, grew a big beard so he looked like Santa for the rest of his life, worked as a prison guard but fell asleep during a breakout, painted beautiful enormeous dark abstracts to process the war, got a black and white TV and missed colors so much that he made these lithos and a lot of etchings and paintings, had Marco of KIOSK and his five siblings, moved to Paris right across from the Notre Dame, then Provence and painted flowers and grapevines and portraits of farmers, had a glass of wine with lunch, asked how my life was but never waited for a reply before telling another story about himself ugh but it was still lovely, sneaked patisseries, got old and died on Xmas day 2017 while flirting with the nurses, had his ashes accidentally spilled in the car by a fumbly Marco.

A lively life lived like typical artists live lively lives.
