Edlef Romeny Prints
Marco's father Edlef was a painter and equally a printmaker, he went into his studio every day. When he died in 2017 we had the monumental task of organizing all of his works. We began with his paintings and then after two years we went into the flat files. Suddenly, a person we always thought of as a painter we started to think of as a printmaker. We found great beauty in the drawers, approximately 300 different printed works, lithographs, etchings and woodcuts; from 1 to 12 of each. Literally hidden, the works are filled with meaning and joy. They all are limited. In some cases, at least two weeks to deliver. Art takes time.
"The litho-stone is still in the graphics atelier, although I am a little bit ashamed to admit we use it as a step to go out the window. Some of these might have been screen prints - I was not born at the time he made them and I forgot to ask before he passed. I should check with my siblings. I want you to see them - nothing worse than having art you like (from a parent even) sitting in a drawer. They should be on a wall! Your wall!" - M
